Steven M. Kelchner, 44, of Reading, PA passed away Tuesday, November 13th.
Born in Reading, PA, he was a son of Cheryl (Kerschner) and Larry Kelchner, of Auburndale, FL, and was married and devoted to his wife, Kate M. Di Blasi-Kelchner for 12 years.
Steven was a graduate of Schyukill Valley High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh where he majored in Psychology and was a brother of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Steve worked at Webb Medical Systems for 16 years until transferring to Young’s Medical, where he worked for the last two years.
Steve is survived by his parents, his wife Kate, and a daughter Emily Kelchner, of Adamstown, Pa.
Steve loved and adored Kate more than he loved the Philadelphia Phillies, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Jersey Shore, horror movies, and roller coasters. Steve loved his daughter, Emily, with all of his heart. Emily is exactly like her dad—happy, easy going, and patient. His life will forever live on through her.
In addition to Kate and Emily, he is loved by his mother and father, Cheryl and Larry. They raised him in a loving home giving him the foundation he needed to be the man he became. He will always be in the heart of his uncle, Randy Kerschner, of Reading. The Di Blasi family will forever consider Steve one of their own through the love of Kate’s late mother, Madeline Di Blasi, Kate’s father Peter Di Blasi and his wife Gail Di Blasi, Kate’s sisters Missy Di Blasi, wife of Mick Jaromnak, and Jessica Di Blasi Myers wife of Dr. Ed Myers.
Steve is also loved by his nieces and nephews, Michael and Alex Jaromnak, and Nico, Anthony and Gia Di Blasi Myers, all of Reading Pa. Along with his most easy-going personality, Steve’s sarcastic humor will be truly missed.
Friends are invited to gather in celebration of Steven's life from 12 PM to 3 PM on Sunday, November 18th at John P. Feeney Funeral Home in Reading, PA .
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to support his nephew, Anthony Myers, who is battling brain cancer, to Team 17 STRONG, 1605 Hampden Blvd. Reading, PA 19604 www.team17strong.org.
A casketed burial will be held on Monday, November 19th at Gethsemane Cemetery Reading, PA at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements entrusted to John P. Feeney Funeral Home, Inc. 625 N. 4th Street at Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601, 610-372-4160. Obituary and condolences at www.johnpfeeney.com.
