FaithAnn Jones Obituary
FaithAnn (Scott) Jones - June 26, 1939-September 27, 2024
FaithAnn Jones, 85, of Leesport, PA passed away Friday, September 27th, in the company of family. Born in Pottsville, PA on June 26, 1939, FaithAnn was daughter to the late Esther J. (Renn) and Virgil C. Scott. She was the widow of Robert A. Jones who preceded her in death in 2015 and sister to Virgil Scott, Jr. who passed in 2011.
FaithAnn is survived by her 3 daughters, Kristin Jones, Jennifer (Buffi) Moyer, and Jessica Jones; sons-in-law Steven Moyer and Jami Godfrey; grandsons Cooper Webber, USN, Duncan Webber, USN, Mason Godfrey and Carter Godfrey; sister Patricia Bressler; sister-in-law Barbara Scott; those she considered her own: Ryan Strause and family, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
FaithAnn was active in her Lutheran Faith and a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing, PA. It is through her faith that she met and fell in love with her husband of 48 years, during their tenure as President and Vice President of the Pottsville District Luther League.
Often selfless, FaithAnn abandoned her university education to care for her ailing father. Upon marriage, she left the job she loved at The Miners National Bank in Pottsville and moved to Virginia to support her husband during his fellowship at the University of Virginia.
FaithAnn held many jobs throughout her life and was an avid volunteer who gave so much to many charitable causes. She was also active in the Republican Party in Berks County for more than 50 years and served in many ways, including committee person, various roles in the election board, and most recently serving as election’s machine inspector. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Pat Tillman Unit 117 in Phoenix, AZ, where she was truly loved.
FaithAnn always put family first and devoted many hours, travelling far and wide, supporting her grandchildren and cheering them on at sporting events, concerts, and many other school activities.
She was full of life! There is not a single waiter, waitress, or register clerk who had anything but a smile after engaging with her – she made all feel good and appreciated. Bringing others joy is what made her happiest.
Joyful and playful, she was known to instigate watermelon seed spitting contests at family picnics, and infamously entertained those around her, while loudly and colorfully cheering on her beloved Penn State Nittany Lions. She was even willing to let her teenage grandsons and their friends break eggs on her head during Easter egg painting. Her fun-loving relationships with the children in her life earned her many fun nicknames, including Aunt Dance, and Indy Nana Jones.
A strong woman who persevered through many hardships in her youth, she ensured that her girls grew up strong, capable, and independent. A voracious reader who often finished a book and more in a day, she instilled the importance of life-long learning, in and out of the classroom.
Friends and relatives will be received on Thursday, October 3rd from 10-11 AM at Atonement Lutheran Church at 5 Wyomissing Boulevard, Wyomissing, PA. A Religious Service will begin at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Common Ground at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Boulevard, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
Disposition will be private at the convenience of the family.
