Earl R. "Dick" Coller, age 95 years, of Reading passed away Sunday, April 17th, peacefully, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.
Earl was born in Reading on June 26, 1920, a son of the late Lillian (Anderson) and William H. Coller, Sr. and was the widower of his wife of 70 years, Vivian M. (McCoy) Coller, who passed away on February 4, 2016.
He was a 1937 graduate of Reading High School, then a 1940 graduate of Wyomissing Poly Tech. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. from 1942 to 1946 as a Corporal during WW II, serving in the Aleutian Islands as a specialist in calibrating Norton bomb sites. He worked as a Machinist Foreman at Textile Machine Works, Wyomissing for 35 years retiring in 1975. He was an assistant Cub Pack leader of Pack #64, Reading, Den Father of Den #3, Reading, a Little League baseball coach in Reading and was the last surviving founder of College Manor Swimming Association. Dick enjoyed camping with his wife at Locust Lake State Park and traveling cross country in their camper.
He is survived by his Son, Gary, widower of Bonnie Coller, of West Lawn; Daughter, Dale, wife of John Weitzel, of Stony Creek Mills; Son Scot M., husband of Denise L. Coller, of Ft Lauderdale. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Austin R. Coller, Lauren J. Coller, Wendy N. Howe and Derek S. Coller and three great grandchildren; Mackenzie D. Howe, Orion Z. Coller and Saxon D. Coller. He was predeceased by his Brother, William H. Coller Jr. and Sister, Emily Manderbach.
