Russell M. Lessig, 82, of Robesonia, passed away Friday, April 15th, peacefully, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.
He was the husband of Geraldine M. (Slabik) Lessig. They were married for 59 years. Russell was born in Reading, on July 2, 1933, a son of the late Maude (Moyer) and George Lessig.
A graduate of Reading High School, class of 1951, he served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War era, and was later employed as an Installer at Western Electric Reading, Pa., for 33 years, retiring in 1981.
He was an avid horseman and a trainer of thoroughbreds.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; 2 sons, Wade G., husband of Pamela Lessig, of Mohnton, Pa., and Cord R. Lessig, of Wernersville, Pa.; along with a sister, Mildred, widow of William Grubb, of Oley, Pa.
He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Clint R. and Trent M. Lessig, of Wernersville, Pa.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, Pa., with full military honors.
