Dolores C. Latshaw, 87, of Leesport, formerly of North Front Street in Reading, passed away Thursday, October 25, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Felicia (Rakowiecki) and Boleslaw Zaorski. She was the wife of the late Walter Latshaw, who died December 5, 2017. They were married October 11, 1953 and celebrated 65 years of marriage.
She was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Dolores was an active member of many organizations over the years including the Riverside PTA, the Northwest Pool, and the Northwest AA Youth Organization where she helped organize and run numerous activities and fundraisers. She could always be counted on when someone was in need of help. She spent many years alongside her husband cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and finally got to see the Eagles win the Super Bowl. Some of her greatest joys were the camping trips with extended family to Spring Grove and the many family beach vacations. She especially loved the many special moments she got to spend with her grandchildren and family members over the years.
Dolores was the loving and devoted mother of Michael Latshaw of Reading, Pa., Brian Latshaw and his wife, Carin, of Wernersville, Pa., Thomas Latshaw and his wife, Isis, of Leesport, Pa., and Bruce Latshaw and his wife, Catherine, of Fogelsville, Pa; and sister of Norman Zaorski and his wife Mary, of Reading, Pa. She was also the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Dolores was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Romanski and Regina Bowman and brothers, Thaddeus, Constantine, and Richard Zaorski.
The Latshaw family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of Berks Heim who showed loving care and companionship during Dolores' stay.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 925 Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Internment will be held at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prospectus Berco, 840 William Lane, Reading, PA 19604 (please put Dolores’ name in the memo line of the check) or www.prospectusberco.org.
