US NAVY WWII and Korean Era.
Richard D. Carl, Sr., 88, of Reading, PA, passed away at 11:30 AM Friday October 26, 2018 in his residence at the Manor at Market Square.
The widower of Shirley J. Carl, who died in February 2016. Richard was born in Reading, PA on December 14, 1929, a son of the late Mary and Roland Carl.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an AD3 in the Korean , World War II eras. Victory Medal.
He was employed as a Painter and Paperhanger for Vernon Beechert Painting and Paperhanging retiring in 1995. He was very proud of his paperhanging skills and expertise and serving in the military. He loved that he helped raise his grand daughters Alycia and Natasha Carl and Kyle Mange. Richard will also be remembered for his extreme Christmas decorating skills.
Richard is survived by three daughters, Nancy, wife of Rodney Gutekunst, of Mohnton; Michele, wife of Gregory Snyder, of Bensalem; and Jennifer Carl companion of James Jones of Reading. And a son,Richard Jr. husband of Kathy (Elliott) Carl, of Sinking Spring .
He is also survived by seven grandchildren Scot Gutekunst, Eric and Jonathan Carl, Alycia Carl, Natasha Carl Rianna and Mekhi of York , along with six great grandchildren. Darius and Dee Dee Sudler, Anicia and Juliana Molano and Madelyn and Regan Carl and a great great granddaughter Gabriella who just turned one year old .
He was predeceased by a granddaughter Stacey Gutekunst and a Great Grandson Franklin Sudler, III.
Public Gathering will be held 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 1st at Feeney Funeral Home in Reading, PA. Graveside Service and Interment with full military honors at Berks County Memorial Gardens Fleetwood, PA. at 11:30 AM, Deacon Kyle C. Mange, Officiating. Procession will leave funeral home promptly at 11:15 Am,.
