Violet E. (Hyneman) Godfrey, 103, wife of the late Levi Godfrey of Temple, finished her last dance on Earth October 22nd 2018 and now she's ready for the next adventure. Born August 11th, 1915 to the late Nelson and Bertha (Ketterer) Hyneman, Violet passed away peacefully at the Reading hospital on Monday.
Spending much of her life in Birdsboro, Violet was a loving mother and a caring friend. A strong woman -- sometimes to the point of stubbornness -- she would move heaven and earth to avoid inconveniencing those around her. When a cup of hot coffee and the newspaper weren't enough, she found adventure with her friends in the Red Hat Society. Violet could always be counted on for an insightful anecdote, a kind word, and some delicious Pennsylvania-Dutch cooking.
Surviving Violet are her sisters Ara Reber of Mohnton and Lucetta Reider of Shillington. She will be sorely missed by her children Sylvia, wife of Clark Cable, of Oley and Joan Dean of Temple. She is also survived by three stepchildren: Levi Godfrey Jr. of Delaware, Betty, wife of Dalphon Jacobs of West Lawn, and Norma, wife of Melvin Greiss, of Alburtis. Additionally, Violet is survived by 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. Violet is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
The family would like to extend its praise to the compassionate nursing staff that helped in keeping Violet comfortable during her final days. Your warmth and attentiveness helped make a particularly difficult situation more bearable for family and friends alike. Thank you.
A memorial service will be held for Violet at 10:00am on Friday, October 26th, 2018 at John P. Feeney Funeral home. Friends may gather from 9-10 AM, Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Geigertown, PA
