Bertha (Schwenk) Hish Obituary

Bertha F. Hish, 82, of Douglassville, passed away Wednesday, January 6th, peacefully, at Sanatoga Center, Pottstown, Montgomery County.

She was the widow of David Zook. Bertha was born in Reading, PA, on October 22, 1932, a daughter of the late Bertha (Wolfgang) and Arthur Schwenk.


A graduate of Reading Catholic High School (St. Peter's), class of 1950, she worked as a factory worker at Mrs. Smith Pies in Pottstown, PA. She later worked for Mail Room in Reading, PA.


She loved dancing and had appeared on American Bandstand several times. She also enjoyed motorcycles.


She is survived by 3 children: a daughter, Lisa A Bucher, of Douglassville, and 2 sons, Robert J., husband of Susan Grebe, of Boyertown, PA, and Edward J., widower of Jackie Grebe, of South Dakota; also by 2 brothers, David Wolfgang, of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Larry Wolfgang, of Shillington, PA; and by 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.


She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl L. Guth, in 2011.


Services are private at the convenience of family.
