William Kenney Jr Obituary

William Edward Kenney, Jr., 78, passed away Saturday, December 19th, at his residence. A graduate of Reading High School, William was born on August 16, 1937, a son of the late Helen (McGraw) and William Edward Kenney Sr.


A member of Holy Guardian Angel R.C. Church, Laureldale, PA 19605.


He served in the U.S. Army and the National Guard for over 19 years, stationed in Cuba for a period of time.


He later worked in maintenance and in safety and security at GPU Reading, PA.


William was a member of the YR Club, Meadow Brook Country Club, Evergreen


Country Club and the Parrot Heads where he worked on their float, a large ship, for local parades. He also loved to ski at Heidelberg Country Club.


He is survived by his daughter, Ann, wife of Jim Sheafer, of Leesburg, Virginia; a sister, M. Alice, widow of Ed Schappell, of Wyomissing, PA; and a brother, Dennis, husband of Toni Honan, of Virginia Beach, VA; and by 2 grandchildren, Sarah and Patrick Sheafer, of Leesburg, VA.


Friends are invited to call Monday, December 28th, from 9:30-10 a.m., at Holy Guardian Angel R.C. Church, Laureldale, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Hills Cemetery in Scranton, PA, in the family plot.
