Richard (Rick) James Barbary
Richard James Barbary, 63, of Exeter Township, passed away Tuesday, April 12th, at home surrounded by family after fighting a courageous two-year battle against Leukemia. Rick is survived by his best friend and wife of 23 years, Stacy (Lupo) Barbary.
Richard was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on January 8, 1959, a son of the late Jean A. (Miller) and William E. Barbary.
In addition to his wife, Stacy, Rick is survived by a daughter, Karissa Boyer, fiancé of Stephan Hoffman, of Reading; a son Cody Boyer, fiancé of Alayna Printz, of Reading; two sisters: Eileen Slovik, wife of Tom Slovik, of Mohrsville, PA, and Mary Ross, wife of Steve Ross, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers: Jack Barbary, husband of Sue, of Boyertown, PA, and Bill Barbary, widower of Cindy, of Womelsdorf, PA; and a granddaughter. Kayla (P-nut). Rick was predeceased by a sister, Lynn Barbary.
Rick had fond memories of summers spent in Canada with his family as a child. There he developed an interest in outdoor activities, including fishing and hunting, which led him to become a Falconer.
Rick graduated from Daniel Boone High School, Class of 1977, with a passion for carpentry and later established Barbary Construction in 1992.
Throughout his career as a master carpenter, he has met many wonderful people and developed lifelong relationships. He was a kind and compassionate man, and if you ever had the pleasure of meeting Rick, you loved him immediately. He cherished his family and friends, always telling stories and jokes to make everyone laugh. Nothing gave him greater joy than becoming "Poppy" to his granddaughter, Kayla, a.k.a P-Nut. He loved spending time with her, playing with her, teaching her, and watching her grow into a young woman. Rick is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved and was so very proud.
He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, enjoyed watching NASCAR races, as well as grilling on his patio while listening to some Ted Nugent with a good glass of wine and maybe a shot (or two) of Jager. He was proud to be part of Calvary Chapel of Viera.
To know him was an honor and a blessing. He has left a positive impact on the lives of those who knew him, along with so many wonderful memories. He will forever be missed and remembered for his humor and generous spirit. And, as always, nevermind.
