James J. Janowski
James J. Janowski, 87, of Birdsboro, passed away Tuesday, April 12th, at Reading Rehabilitation Hospital, Wyomissing.
Born in Reading, a son of the late Geneva (Dombroski) and Frank B. Janowski, Jim was the widower of Nancy (Armstrong) Janowski.
He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC and was proud to be a postal worker for over 30 years.
Jim is survived by two stepsons, Keith, husband of Sue Durkee, of Nova Scotia; and Barry Durkee, of Coatesville; as well as a sister-in-law Patricia Janowski, of Laureldale. His nieces and nephew and their families will also remember Uncle Jimmy with love. He was predeceased by his stepson, Lance Durkee and brother Anthony Janowski.
A happy person, Jim enjoyed sitting in the sun on his deck watching (and feeding) the birds and animals. He played golf in his younger days and was an avid sports fan, especially fond of watching baseball and rooting for his St. Louis Cardinals.
Arrangements entrusted to John P. Feeney Funeral Home, Inc., 625 N. 4th Street at Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601, where family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday, April 20th, from 10-10:45 AM. Graveside service will be at 11 AM at St. Mary's RC Cemetery, New Holland Road, Reading.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the James Janowski Memorial Fund at giftfunds.stjude.org/jamesjanowski or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
