Marcus L. Gibson passed from this life at Tower Health Reading Hospital on Monday February 21, 2022
Born in Reading on June 9, 1944 he was the son of Beatrice Gibson (deceased) and Albert Turner Sr.(deceased). He previously resided in the cities of Chester and Steelton. Penna.
Raised in Beaver Falls, Penn, he received his formal education in the Beaver Falls School District graduating from Beaver Falls Senior High School on June 5, 1963.
Marcus served in the United States Navy with a rank of SHL3 from 1964 until 1970 at which time he received an honorable discharge.
Marcus retired from UGI and was previously employed at Metropolitan Edison Electric Company.
Marcus attended Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Middletown where his pastor was the Rev. Earnestine Boles until his physical condition no longer allowed.
Marcus was the former advisor for the youth marching unit attached to the Elks #108 of Reading as well as the former coach of several youth basketball teams.
Marcus leaves to mourn his passing his two sons, Tracey Wadelington, and Jermaine Gibson, two grandchildren Zyere and Maya Wadelington all of Reading, Penna.
Marcus was predeceased by his brother Larry Gibson, his stepfather Daniel Gale Gibson and his stepmother Elizabeth Turner.
Marcus is also survived by four brothers Darryl Gibson of Beaver Falls , Desmond Gibson and spouse Charlotte of South Carolina, Albert and Andrew Turner of Reading, as well as three sisters Marilyn Taylor and spouse Edward of New Brighton, Ramona Turner-Turpin and Evette (Turner) Dawson of Reading, five godchildren Rache Williams, Faith Morrison, Jasir Stern, Kendra (Sissy) Jackson, all of Reading and Galde Wilson of Florida, as well as one maternal aunt Gloria Marr of Reading. Also surviving him are several nieces and nephews along with special cousins Vanessa Key, Jaheida Santiago, and Michael Howard who helped in his care until his passing. Also surviving are other relatives too numerous to mention as well as a host of friends.
Family and friends are invited to public viewing Tuesday, March 1st from 1 to 3 PM at Feeney Funeral Home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to John P. Feeney Funeral Home, Inc. 625 N. 4th Street at Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601, 610-372-4160.
