Lowell Jenkins Obituary

Lowell “Butch” Thomas Jenkins, 79, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away Tuesday, May 9th, at Meritus Medical Center. The son of the late Mabel Jenkins and James Smith, Lowell was born on October 20, 1943. He grew up in Reading and attended Reading High School. He later enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War, earning three medals.He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan and a proud Brother of Berks Lodge #47 of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World, holding various positions in his Lodge. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania State Association, and held the degree of Past State President. Lowell was also a member of American Legion Post 962 George Washington Carver.
Lowell is survived by his sister, Lorraine Godbee, of Reading; brother Larry C. Jenkins, of Reading; nephews, Leonard (Sandra) Jenkins of Allentown, PA, Eric (Anita) Jenkins of Reading, Ralph Jenkins of Reading, nieces Lealer (Stephen Hill) Jenkins of Reading, Karen (Tony) Laday of Dallas, TX, and Elata Rose (Tommy) Truesdale of Greer, SC. His great-niece Desiree Jenkins of Hagerstown, Maryland, lived with him. He was predeceased by sisters, Lois Bass, Larue Smith, Rosalie Key, brother, Lee Jenkins and nieces, Lynette Jenkins and Adrienne Bass.
Viewing will be Wednesday, May 17th from 10 AM to 11 AM at Feeney Funeral Home. Religious service will follow at 11 AM. Interment at 2:30 PM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
