Lawrence D. Hummel, 76, of Birdsboro, passed away Sunday, May 2nd, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.
Lawrence was born in Reading, PA on June 9, 1944, a son of the late Catherine (Pennypacker) and Arlin Hummel.
He was the husband of Karen L. (Wells) Hummel who survives him.
He was a member of Robeson Evangelical Lutheran
and served in the U.S. Marines as a Sergeant in the Vietnam War.
Lawrence worked as a Police Officer at Wyomissing Police Department for 31 years and a Deputy Sheriff with the Berks County Sheriff's Department for 10 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #71 and the Marine Corp League
In addition to his wife, Lawrence is survived by a daughter, Heidi L., Hummel, wife of Ray Weaver, of Wyomissing; and a son, Erik D. Hummel husband of Brandy Hummel, of Birdsboro.
He is also survived by three grandchildren; Felicia Flores, Izaak Weaver-Herrera and Dylan Hummel.
Friends are invited to call at the Morgantown Community Church, 4221 Main Street, Elverson, PA 19520 on Wednesday, May 12th from 3-5 PM with Religious Service at 4 PM Marine Corps Honors to be presented prior to the Religious Service.
Final disposition to be private at the convenience of the family.
