Joseph James "Joe" Pienta, 42, of Reading, passed away Tuesday, March 23rd, in Shelby, Michigan while visiting friends.
Joseph was born in West Reading, PA on May 1, 1978, a son of Mary B (Leier) Pienta, of West Lawn, Pa, and the late Steven J Pienta (Susan Ann Nunemaker Pienta).
A 1997 graduate of Antietam High School, he worked as an Auto Mechanic prior to his enlistment to the Marine Corp where he served overseas in Iraq, Afganistan and Haiti. His distinguished awards were: • Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal •Combat Action Ribbon (Iraq) •Iraq Campaign Medal •Humanitarian Service Medal •Global War on Terrorism Service Medal •Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2d Award) •Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal (Iraq) •National Defense Service Medal •Presidential Unit Citation-Navy.
After honorably leaving the Marine Corps, Joseph worked at Axcess Industries as a Service Plumber from 08/2012 to 10/2020.
In addition to his Mother Mary, left to cherish his memories are: his Son Bryan James Pienta, West Reading, Pa, longtime boyfriend of Megan Tussinger. Josephs' most precious person in his life was his Son Bryan! Joseph was a man of many traits but being a Father to Bryan was his most important & valuable trait to him!
He also left his memories to cherish to his Siblings, Brothers: MSgt. Jason Pienta, San Antonio, Tx married to Stephanie Pienta (Dillard), Steven Pienta, Shillington, Pa, James Leier, West Lawn, Pa and his Sisters: Elizabeth Pienta Denver, Co; and Olivia Pienta, Shillington Pa. His Grandparents: David Pienta, Florida and Fredrick Leier, Ephrata, Pa. Joseph was preceded by the passing of his Grandparents Shirley Hunsberger (Burke) and Florence Leier.
Nieces & Nephews include: Jett & Remi Pienta & De’Anthony Lewis all of San Antonio, TX.
Interment with full Marine honors will be scheduled at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery Annville, PA by invite only.
