John J. Fordyce, age 100, of St. Lawrence, PA passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading, PA.
John was born in Reading, PA, and was a son of the late Minnie (Becker) and John F. Fordyce. He was the beloved husband of Jane L. (Koller) Fordyce who predeceased him in 2018. They were married for 69 years.
A member of St. Catharine of Sienna RC Church Mt. Penn, PA, John was a veteran of WW II. He served honorably in the Army from 1942 to 1945 with the 80th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group, achieving the rank of Corporal. John later worked as a Display Manager for Feel Fine Shops, Reading, PA., for 43 years. He was a self-taught, life-long artist whose paintings and drawings were cherished by many friends and family. John was also a nature enthusiast, but his family was his greatest joy. He will be greatly missed beyond measure.
John is survived by his children: Steven Fordyce, husband of Susan (Kern) Fordyce, Mertztown, PA; Kathleen Wummer, wife of Michael Wummer, Fleetwood, PA; and Michelle Marinucci, wife of Michael Marinucci, Reading, PA; John is also survived by a brother, Jacob “Jack” Fordyce, Reading, PA. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Kate (Wummer) Murphy, wife of Bernard Murphy, Wayne, PA; Laura Wummer, Bethlehem, PA; Matt Mohr, husband of Tara (Kosch) Mohr, Lexington, KY; And a great-grandson James Murphy, Wayne, PA.
John was predeceased by son John K. Fordyce, and siblings Raymond Fordyce, Joseph Fordyce, Betty Fair, Dorothy Raab, Hazel Gutekunst, and Jane Bright.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2 at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 4975 Boyertown Road(Route 562) in Exeter Township. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until time of service. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
