Evelyn "Evvi" Ross Obituary

Evelyn Claire Ross, 81, affectionately known as Evvi since the age of 14, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023 – just 26 days after her 81st birthday. Formerly of Reading and Sinking Spring, PA, she passed away at Shore Health Rehabilitation, Parksley County, Virginia, while in the company of family members. The wife of Richard Ross, who survives her, Evvi died on their 42nd wedding anniversary. 

Born in Reading, PA, on November 1, 1942, Evvi was a cherished daughter of the late Margaret M. (Monahan) and John P. Feeney. Evvi and Rick moved to Chincoteague Island, VA, shortly after their retirement.

A 1960 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Evvi later graduated from Empire Beauty School and operated a private beauty salon in her home in her younger years. Most of Evvi's career was dedicated to working as a systems analyst and supervisor at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technology, and Agere Systems. 

Evvi's favorite activities included traveling, casinos, playing cards, and enjoying life to the fullest.

In addition to her husband, Rick, Evvi leaves behind her loving children Terry Harner, Jr., Richard A. Ross, and Lynn Hawkins. She is also survived by her brother Michael F. Feeney and his wife Karen Feeney, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John P Feeney, Jr. in 2010.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, December 9, 2023, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Feeney Funeral Home. A religious service will follow at 12 PM.

Interment will be private at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale in the Feeney family plot. A memorial gathering will also be held at a later date in Chincoteague, VA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evvi's name to a charity of your choice.
