Joan M. (Eckert) Kriebel, 88 of Reading, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Berks Heim Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine F. Eckert. She was the widow of Donald C. Kriebel, married for 61 years.
Joan was a devoted mother and grandmother for most of her life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always supporting them. She loved watching classic movies with her husband and children.
Joan was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul's Parish where she attended church and volunteered at her children's school events. The family later joined St. Catharine of Sienna Church once they moved to Carsonia Avenue and were faithful parishioners.
Trips to Sea Isle City, NJ and Beach Mountain Lake were favorite family vacations where wonderful memories were made. Joan also loved spending time with her brother, Jimmy and their excursions to the Atlantic City Casinos.
Joan is survived by three daughters: Donna M., wife of David Doney of Reading, Mary C., wife of James Heckman, Jr., of Exeter and Noel M., wife of Rodney Christman, of Oley; two sons, Robert C., husband of Dawn Kriebel, of Leesport, Joseph F. Kriebel, of Birdsboro. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Sarah, Christopher, Timothy, Heather, Holly, Alexandra, Kaitlyn, Camille, Bailee, Peyton, Taylor; and thirteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother James Eckert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday December 21st at 10 AM at Gethsemane Cemetery Chapel of the Resurrection. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
