Jean M. Fonte, 86, of Reading, PA, passed away Monday, January 30th, at St. Joseph Medical Center. Jean was born in Reading, PA on October 20, 1930, a daughter of the late Cecilia (Jarozynski) and John W. Kostzewa. She was the wife of Natel Fonte.
She was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Reading, and worked in the housekeeping department at Baldwin Hardware, Reading, PA., for for 30 years.
She served on the Centre Park Historic District and Centre Park Crime Watch committees. She was known for sending out hundreds of holiday and birthday cards every year. She also enjoyed reading and country line dancing.
She is survived by her husband and children: daughters: Elaine M., companion of Scott A. Moyer Fonte, of Temple, PA; Diane C., widow of Scott Stefan, of Lake Worth, FL; and Christina L. Fonte, of Reading, PA; sons: Leonard J., husband of Yvonne Fonte, of Reading, PA; and Natel J. Fonte, of Dallas, Tx; a sister Irene, wife of Francis Diego, of Reading, PA; and brothers John Kostzewa husband of Lavina, of Temple, PA; Robert Kostzewa, of Temple, PA; and Michael Kostzewa, husband of Gwen, of Exeter, PA.
She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a dear family friend John Slifko of Reading, PA.
The family would like to thank the staff at Berks Heim for their wonderful care of Jean.
Friends are invited to gather from 12:00-1:00PM on Friday, February 3th at John P. Feeney Funeral Home followed by a memorial service. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Mt. Penn, PA at 10:30AM on Saturday, February 4th.
