Jacob "Jack" W. Romyn, 90, of Oley Township, passed away Tuesday, March 1st, at his residence. He formerly lived on Daniel Boone Road in Birdsboro.
"Jack" was born in Girdland, PA on March 9, 1931, a son of the late Lambertha A. (Newenhouse) and Nicholas Romyn.
He was the husband of Delilah H (Witteman) Romyn who survived him. They would have been married for 70 years in September.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant after World War II ended and was a member of the Hampden Heights Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Reading, Pa.
He was Owner and chef at Romyn's Restaurant Honesdale, PA Manager and chef at Charcoal Chef in Mount Penn. Head Chef at St Joseph's Hospital for 17 years 1967 - 1984. He then owned and operated along with his wife, Romyns Country Home, a Personal care home in Birdsboro, Pa.
In addition to his wife, Delilah, Jacob "Jack" is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline K. Sherker, of Temecula, Calif. Constance L., wife of Wayne Kinman, of Roseburg, Oregon; and Deborah J., wife of Lance Marschner, of Pottstown, Pa; along with one son Ricky R. Romyn, husband of Emmy Romyn, of Dade City, FL; Jacob "Jack" is also survived by a sister, Audrey Swann, of Hamilton, NY and by nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald J Romyn, 1985, sister Ellen Warne and brother Milton Romyn.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 12th at the Hampden Heights Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2706 Old Pricetown Road, Temple, PA 19560. Friends may gather at the Church from 11 Am to 12 Noon.
Interment with full military honors will be held Friday, May 13, 2022, @ 12:30 pm at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery 60 Indiantown Gap Road Annville, PA 17003. Attendees should arrive at the Cemetery no later than 12:15 AM. Take Route 183 North to Route 78 West. Route 78 will merge with Route 81 South in about 19 miles. Then after 4 miles on Route 81 South, take exit 85 off Route 81 South, Turn Right at the end of ramp and make the first right turn into the Cemetery. At the main intersection about 1/2 mile into the cemetery at the large flag Pole (US flag flying at half staff). Turn right the go behind the admin building. There will be 4 lanes for the funeral procession to line up in one of them to go to the ceremonial chapel which will be led by a Cemetery person. Those wanting to follow the funeral lead car to the cemetery should arrive at the funeral home promptly by 11 am on Friday, May13th.
