Oldest survivor of the Rockettes


Helen R. Wentzler, 93, of Shillington, passed away Friday, August 19th, peacefully, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading. 

She was the widow of Andrew J. Wentzler who died in 1974.  She was also predeceased by her second husband, Walter T. Rohrer in 2009. 

Helen was born in Reading, PA on October 14, 1922, a daughter of the late Ella (Babczak) and Michael  Mieczkowski.

A graduate of Reading High School, class of 1939.

She was a member of St John Baptist de la Salle, Helen  worked as a Comptroller at Pomeroy's Stores. She also worked as a Head Auditor for UGI Corporation. Helen was the oldest surviving Radio City Music Hall  Rockette, She also performed at George Hamid's Steel Pier in Atlantic City. 

She is survived by her son, Michael\ B.. Wentzlerr, husband of  Holly, of Shillington and by one grandson, Joseph M. T. Wentzler. She was predeceased by her brothersJoseph F. Mieczkowski in May of 2006, John Mieczkowski  in 1998. and a sister Josephine Parisi in 1991.

Graveside Services are private at the convenience of the family at St, Mary's RC Cemetery Reading, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Animal Rescue League PO Box 69 Mohnton, PA 19540.
