Elmer Dunkins Turpin, Jr., 70, of Reading, passed away Saturday, September 4th, at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Elmer was born in Newark, NJ on November 30, 1950, a son of the late Vera (Anderson) Turpin Baugh and Elmer Dunkins Turpin, Sr.
He was a member of Bethel AME, Reading and a 1969 graduate of Reading High School. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era and worked a as factory worker at Renbow for 20 years.
Elmer is survived by three daughters, Olesha Lyndell Ohlinger, of Reading; Jennifer DiPeitro, of Philadelphia; Martha Elizabeth Turpin, of Reading;
a son,Elmer Dunkins Turpin, III, of Hawaii; sister, Kathleen B. Turpin Merritt and brother, Ronald Royal, both of Newark, NJ. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 greatgrandchildren.
A Garden Memorial Service will be held at Feeney Funeral Home on Thursday, September 16th from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Religious service will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment with full Marine Military Honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville at 1 PM. Procession will leave funeral home at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Veteran's Making a Difference, 2412 Spring St., West Lawn, PA 19609.
