Adele A. Droskinis Hutsko, 91, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017 at the Berks Heim Nursing Center in Leesport. She was predeceased by her husband John Hutsko in 2003. Adele was mother to son Robert J. Hutsko (Susan) of Austin, Tx. Mother to Daughters Mary Ann Buchholtz (deceased Michael) of Pottstown, and Arlene Blatt of Muhlenberg Twp. She was grandmother to five: Tracy, Christopher, Kate, Beth, and Brian. Great grandmother to Theresa, Audrey, Kenneth, Jada, Cole, and Tanner. Great great grandmother to William, Kylee, Gabbie, and Mackenzie. She was predeceased by her mother Anna Griskus Droskinis and father Charles Droskinis. She was also predeceased by her brothers Edward, George, Joseph, John, William, Peter, Victor and her sister Constance. She has numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Minersville, Pa., on December 5, 1925, she attended St. Francis School and graduated from Minersville High School. She married John Hutsko on January 25, 1947 and moved to Leesport, Berks County shortly after. She was a homemaker for many years while raising her three children and later was employed with Bachman Foods until her retirement in 1987. In 2000, John and Adele downsized and moved to Muhlenberg Twp, Reading. She enjoyed her retirement for years going on many trips and adventures with her husband. She arranged many various bus trips with a local Senior Groups in the Reading area. Adele and John even ventured to Japan when son Robert was stationed there while serving his country with the Army Band.
Del, as she was often called, was a wonderful cook and baker. She prided herself with entertaining her family for Sunday dinners and holiday feasts. She could whip up a fancy bunny cake for Easter or a train cake for a special birthday. Adele enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and doing
many various craft projects. She also enjoyed gardening. Her flower beds were always a showcase. She spent hours in those flower beds each year when living in Leesport. Adele bowled weekly for many years and she also enjoyed trips to the Casino.
Adele was devoted to her family and friends. She lived life to its fullest. She was challenged in 2006, at age 80, when she suffered a stroke and could no longer be independent. She then spent her days at home happy and upbeat. Most of the time busying herself with card games, puzzles, movies, magazines, and family visits, etc. She was always appreciative of her caregivers, her church Eucharistic Minister visits, and the Rosary ladies. Her continued faith kept her going. She was able to find joy in the large and small moments in life. These past few years were spent at Berks Heim Nursing Center, where she was cared for by many devoted caregivers.
Adele will be missed by her family. She had the most beautiful blue eyes and the most beautiful smile that captured everyone she met. She has left her family with many, many good memories of days past. She was a true example of One Life, Well Lived.
