William “Bill” W. Damore, 89, of West Reading, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members that loved and supported him, on Sunday, September 8th, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center.
William was born in West Reading on June 22, 1935, a son of the late Rose (Katzin) and Joseph Damore. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna (Damore) Russoli and her husband Mert, and William’s long time companion, Sandra Messner, who passed away in July.
He was a member of Sacred Heart R. C. Church West Reading and served in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant in the Korean War.
William was the owner of an antique and furniture store in Reading. In high school, he excelled in many sports and enjoyed the "Battle of the Boroughs" rivalry between West Reading and Wyomissing! He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
William is survived by his son, Michael J. Damore and his wife, Alane T., of Berlin, MD; sister, Joyce "Tut", wife of Ralph Dundore, of Shillington. He is also survived by a niece, Stephanie Schweitzer, wife of Ron, of Shillington, and a cousin Joann Heintz, of Reading, who both greatly assisted in his support and caretaking. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to gather from 6-7 PM on Monday, September 16th at Feeney Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 7PM.
