Royal E. Snyder, Jr.

Royal E. Snyder, Jr., 89, of Wescosville, Lehigh County, died Friday, November 22, 2013, in Woodland Terrace Allentown, PA. Born in the Ogdensburg Hospital, NY June 29, 1924 Royal was the son of the late Royal E. Snyder Sr. and Bessie Taylor Snyder. He graduated from Canton High School in 1942. He entered the US Navy in March 1943 and served in WWII until his honorable discharge on February 13, 1946. Royal served aboard the SS Collis P. Huntington, MS Java, and USS Saugus LSV-4. After the war he attended Clarkson College of Technology. Royal began working at the Canton post office and in April 1962 became a Postal Inspector for the U.S. Postal Service serving a proud 22 years until his retirement on April 30, 1982. On March 27, 1948 Royal married the late Wanda Ann Marguerite Phelps in Canton, NY. After his retirement they enjoyed an active and full life of golfing, bowling, camping, sailing, and woodworking. Survivors: His three children, Sharon (Snyder) wife of Donald Holden, Royal E. Snyder III (Chip) husband of Glenna (Nikolet) Snyder of Allentown, PA, and Jenifer (Snyder) wife of Thomas Touhsaent of Mertztown, PA; his sister, Marla Snyder Rawlins of Canton, NY; eight grandchildren, Jill, Lori, and Michael Holden, Kara and Kirsten Snyder, Timothy and Tammy Touhsaent, Jessica Touhsaent Hottenstein wife of Jeffrey Hottenstein; one great-grandchild, Gavin Hottenstein; and his companion of the last nine years, Ellie Leeser. Services: Will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 West Main St., Kutztown, PA on Tuesday, November 26, at 1 p.m. Family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Trinity. Contributions: Family wishes donations in his name to Lewy Body Dementia Association, 912 Killian Hill Road, S.W. Lilburn, GA 30047. Arrangements entrusted to the John P.
