Robert Bretz Obituary

U.S. Navy, WWII


Robert K. Bretz, 91, of Reading, PA, passed away Monday, November 19th, at his residence.


Born in Frackville, PA on July 26, 1927, he was a son of the late Pearl (Miller) and James S. Bretz and was the husband of Jean K. (Hornberger) Bretz.


Robert served in the U.S. Navy in WW II on the USS Aucilla (AO-56) from 1945-1948.


He worked as a Meat Cutter at Bachman's Meat Market for 20+ years. He also worked at United Seafood and Forrers Garage, and last worked as a Sexton for 14 years at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.


Robert is survived by two daughters: Bonnie J., wife of David Varone, of Bernville, PA; and Joyce A., wife of Bryan Kreider, of Mohrsville, PA.


He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Matthew D. and Shelby L. Varone and Jason and Bradley Kreider; and 2 great grand children: Jace and Amelia Kreider.


He was predeceased by two sisters: Evelyn Blackwell and Clara Brown, and two brothers: Herbert and Lewis Bretz.


Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 23rd from 10am-10:30am at Feeney Funeral Home. A casketed burial will follow will full Military honors at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Twp, PA.
