Celebrating the Life of 
Robert D. Parkes

Robert “Bob” Parkes, 78, of Muhlenberg Township, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Reading Hospital Tower Health.
Born in Pittsburgh on November 5, 1946, Bob was the son of the late Cecelia Mary (Pischke) Parkes and David Parkes. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA, he went on to earn his degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Penn State. He began his career at Western Electric in Pittsburgh and later moved to Reading, where he worked for the AT&T plant and eventually retired from Agere Systems after more than 30 years of service.
Bob lived life with an adventurous spirit. Whether it was camping under the stars, skydiving, or trying something new just for the thrill of it, he never missed a chance to embrace the outdoors. His bicycle was his constant companion, but nothing brought him more joy than his grandchildren, whom he lovingly described as “an extension of his childhood.”
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years, Margaret D. (Wamboldt) Parkes; his stepson, Joseph Rimondi of Muhlenberg Township; his stepdaughter, Roxian Andrews and her husband James of Charlotte, NC; and his three beloved grandchildren, Alyssa, Christopher, and Michael, who were the light of his life.
A memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will be held in Pittsburgh at a future date, followed by burial at Jefferson Memorial Park Mausoleum.
