Richard W. Swalley, Sr.
Richard W. Swalley, Sr., 92, of Oley, PA, formerly of Penndale Ave Mt Penn, PA passed away Monday, September 16th, at Complete Care Berkshire Center, Reading.
Richard was born in Laureldale, PA on January 18, 1932, a son of the late Rose (Snyder) and Harry Swalley.
He was the widower of Teresa (Norris) Swalley. who passed away November 18, 2019.
He graduated from Temple University and earned his Master Degree in Accounting at Albright College. He also attended the Wharton School of Business.
Richard served in the U.S. Army Military Police in the Korean War.
He was employed as a Accounting Mgr at Occidental Chemical Corp. for 21 years retired in 1990. He then worked at H & R Block as a. Tax Preparer in the Exeter Office for over 30 years.
He was a member of IMA (Institute of Management Accounts) and Past President of Reading Chapter '82-'83, Past President of the Mid Atlantic Council '86-'87 and National Director '87-'89.
Richard is survived by a daughter, Loretta, wife of Robert Hoch of Oley, PA; and three sons Richard W. Swalley, Jr, of Shillington, PA; Harry J. Swalley, husband of Christine, of Reading, PA; Thomas C. Swalley,husband of Kim, of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and was predeceased by his sisters Harriet Motyl and Pat Stichter, and a brother Bud Swalley.
Public Viewing will be held 10 AM to 11 AM on Monday, September 23rd at Feeney Funeral Home in Reading, PA. A Religious Service will be held at 11 AM at Feeney Funeral Home. Interment follows in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale, PA.
