MSG Richard E. Brown, Sr. (USAF ret.)
Richard E. Brown, Sr., 90, of West Lawn, passed away Saturday, December 25th, at his residence. .
Richard was born in Reading, PA on June 24, 1931, a son of the late Loretta (Ray) and Harry Denton Brown, Sr.
He was the husband of Mary C, (Shoppell) Brown who survives him.
A graduate of Muhlenberg High School, class of 1950, he served over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was awarded the Bronze Star and once served on General Douglas MacArthur security detail and also as an Air Policeman during the funeral of President John F. Kennedy.
After his military career he later worked as a Berks County Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Yetzer and then for Pagerly Security Service. Richard then ran his own security company, Brown's Detective Service.
H once took a Pagerly Security Service dog to Mohammed Ali work out camp and befriended the famous boxer as did his dog.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Richard is survived by three daughters, Mary E. Printz, of Denver, PA;
Nancy K., wife of Jeff Shock, of Minnesota;
Susan C. Brown, of Minnesota, and a son,Richard E. Brown, Jr., of Reading;
He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
His service will be scheduled at a future date with full US Air Force Military Honors. at indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA ..
