Richard (Rick) B. Allebach II, 61, formerly of Berks County and Doylestown, PA, passed away in Bellingham, WA on December 23, 2016 due to complications from heart surgery. Born in Pottstown, PA on November 5, 1955, he was the son of the late Barbara L. Jernigan and Richard B. Allebach.
Rick grew up in Doylestown, PA and graduated from Central Bucks East High School in 1973.
Rick worked in the food industry for many years in Doylestown and New Hope areas. In 2002, he moved to Berks County and opened a gluten-free baking company, which he later expanded into the Good Eatz Green Café in West Reading. He was very involved in volunteer opportunities in the community. In early 2015, Rick moved to Anchorage, AK to work as food services manager for NANA Management at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute. He transferred to Ketchikan, AK in February 2016 to work as Food Services Manager at the Ketchikan Pioneer Home for NANA.
Rick is survived by his sister, Lori B., of Lansdale, PA; aunt Carole (Robert) Fredericks, of Denver, PA; nieces Kelli, Jennifer, Debra, and Samantha, and nephew Jonathan. He also leaves behind loving companion Melody McAllister, of Ketchikan, AK. Rick was predeceased by his brother Jonathan R. Allebach.
Rick will be remembered for his kind, loving, and generous spirit.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Friends are invited to gather for a drink to toast Rick at his favorite watering hole, The Ugly Oyster, 21 S. 5th St, Reading, PA 19602 on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 4-6pm in conjunction with his Celebration of Life potluck being held in Ketchikan at the same time.
