Nancy C. (Calabria) Kostival, 84, of Reading, passed away Friday, May 16th, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center.
Nancy was born in Reading on January 19, 1941, a daughter of the late Frank D. and Mary (Farina) Calabria. She was the widow of Michael Kostival, who predeceased her on December 16, 2024.
Nancy graduated from Wyomissing High School in 1958. She received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with honors from Kutztown University in 1962. After graduation, she taught first grade at West Wyomissing Elementary School. Upon getting married in 1967, she went to Penn State University for graduate work in elementary education while her husband studied Architecture.
Nancy is survived by three daughters, Lynn, wife of David Griffith, of Exeter; Kathleen, of Switzerland; and Ann, of Reading. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Zachary, husband of Julia, William, husband of Alexandria, Nicholas, Camille, Joshua, and Veronica, and two great granddaughters, Grace and Natalie. She was predeceased by her brother, F. Allen Calabria.
She was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Nancy genuinely loved teaching children and had a special way with them. Her compassionate nature and imagination led to exciting stories and adventures with her grandchildren. She enjoyed the winter months and a good cup of coffee. She loved to cook and bake and always served multiple courses for family dinners. Nancy also loved taking walks and spending time with family at their beach house. She was a very special person and will be deeply missed.
