Minerva Lindenmuth Obituary
Minerva I. Lindenmuth, 100, of Wyomissing, PA passed away on Thursday, May 10th, at her home.
Minerva was born in Evansville, PA, a daughter of the late Marie (Deturck) and Neven O. Dries. She was the eldest of six children and the widow of Reuben B. Lindenmuth.
Minerva graduated from Ontelaunee High School. The most important thing in her life was her family, including her late husband Reuben (Lindy), who passed away in September 1999.
Minerva and her husband opened Lindy's Half Way House/Hotel & Restaurant in Maidencreek Township in the 1940s. People came from everywhere for their wonderful food and to watch the first big screen TV in Berks County.
She and her husband Lindy also built Lindy's Sunoco and the Glenside Beer Distributing Company.
When Minerva's daughter Sandi was three, she enrolled her in dance class and continued to proudly follow her professional career as she performed around the world. She was thrilled when her daughter returned to Berks County and was instrumental in helping Sandi and her husband Tom open Berks Gymnastics Academy.
Minerva volunteered as a nurse's aide at the Reading Hospital for several years in addition to helping her husband run their businesses. Later in life she worked at Laurel Lanes and Hiester Lanes where she was in charge of the Junior and Senior bowling leagues. She taught bowling for more than 35 years, was the recipient of many local and state awards, and was inducted in the Bowling Hall of Fame.
Minerva is survived by her beloved daughter, Sandra (Sandi) Lindenmuth McCarthy and her son-in-law Tom McCarthy, whom she loved dearly; and one sister, Fern Shankweiler, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Reuben, and four siblings: Dorothy, Myrtle, Adam and Faith.
All who came in contact with her became her friend. She was an amazing person who inspired so many people and was loved by so many. Her smile along with her ability to command the affection of all will be greatly missed.
Sandi and Tom want to give their special thanks to many who reached out to her during her last years especially to Dr. Leif Christiansen and to her devoted care giver Anny as well as her healthcare team.
