Mary W. Smith Obituary

Mary W. Smith, age 84 years, of Leesport, passed away Tuesday, August 2nd, at her residence. 

Mary was born in Cinnaminson, NJ on June 13, 1932, a daughter of the late Gail and Eric  Warnick and was the widow of Gene L. Smith, who passed away in 2006.

She is survived by her Son, David, husband of  Dorothea Helder, of Germany; Daughter, Julia Helder, of Bridgewater, NJ; and Daughter, Jennifer Helder, of Ephrata. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandson.

Starting from the time of her schooling in art at the Philadelphia Textile and Design, Mary explored and expressed herself in many forms of art, oil, acrylic, water color painting, weaving, sculpting and silk painting. She received her Masters degree in English Literature and taught at Penn State Berks Campus. For 20 years Mary and Gene were the proprietors of Loom Room Bed and Breakfast. She will be remembered for the way that she enriched many lives through her art, her attitude and her zeal for life.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to charity of your choice.
