Margaret E. Auchter Obituary

Margaret E. Auchter, 83, of Reading, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 22nd, surrounded by her family at her home. 
Margaret was born in Boyertown on March 6, 1939, a daughter of the late Jeanetta (Edge) and Malcolm Koons and was the wife of 54 years of Jim L. Auchter, of Reading.
She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph RC Church, Reading, where she also volunteered at the food pantry. She worked as a Nurse Anesthetist, Operating Room Nurse and in the "Ask A Nurse" Program at St. Joseph Hospital, Reading. She was also a Psychiatric Nurse at Wernersville State Hospital.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Margaret K. Girardi, of Reading; two sons, Matthew K., husband of Suzanne (Gehman) Auchter, of Reading; Jonathan J. Auchter, of Reading; her sister, Bertha Diaz, of Oley; her brother, Fulton Koons, of Boyertown;and her grandson, Nicholas Girardi. She was predeceased by her brother, Malcolm Koons.
Margaret enjoyed travel, tennis, painting, sewing, quilting and playing games, especially charades and scrabble. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.
Margaret will be greatly missed and remembered most for her sense of humor, her kindness, her compassion, her generosity and her heart-warming smile.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, May 27th from 10 to 11 AM at St. Joseph RC Church, Reading. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM. Interment is private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph RC Church, 1018 N. 8th St., Reading, PA 19604.
