Louis A. DeAngelo, 90, of Reading, PA, passed away Wednesday, March 22nd, at his residence. Louis was born in Reading, PA on February 9, 1927, a son of the late Rosina (DiMarcantonio) and Vincenzo DeAngelo. He was the widower of Janet M (Diefenderfer) DeAngelo.
While in the U.S. Navy touring the Pacific meeting with the survivors of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, Louis was transferred to Vice Admiral Kauffman's yacht where he met President Eisenhower.
Louis worked as a Truck Driver at Interstate Motor Freight for 32 years. He was an avid Ham radio operator, certified in Morse code in 242 countries. He was also a member of the Reading Radio Club and Victor Emmanuel.
Louis is survived by a daughter, Louise M. DeAngelo, of Myrtle Beach, SC; a son, James S. DeAngelo, of Reading, PA, and a sister, Constantine Kingree. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Krystal, Marc, Megan and Jason; and three great grandchildren: Kalina, Kylie, and Josiah.
He is predeceased by his wife, Janet; one daughter, Karen L. Gensemer; one brother, Rocco, and one sister, Helen Knop.
Friends are invited to gather for a service at 11am on Tuesday, March 28th at the chapel at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605.
