Jose A. Torres - Ortiz, 62, of Reading, passed away Friday, July 29th, peacefully, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading in the company of family members.
Jose was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico on April 22, 1954, a son of the late Carmen (Ortiz) and Jose Torres.
He worked as a Laborer at Exide Batteries Reading, PA., for 23 years retiring in 1995.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be truly missed but we know he is at peace and one with the lord now.
He is survived by his 6 children
Daughter Aracelis, wife of Gilberto Serrano, of Philadelphia;
Son Allen Cabrera, of Reading;
Son Jose Torres, of Philadelphia;
daughter Rebecca L., wife of Luis Rodriguez, of Allentown, PA;
Son Michael Torres, of Philadelphia;
Daughter Luzynthia L. Torres Ada River who he loved like a daughter
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren:: Ailynn Vazquez, Geminii Cabrera, Venus Cabrera, Evanez Osorio, Jasmine Rodriguez, Justin Rodriguez, Gilbertito Serrano (deceased), Jonothan Serrano, Adalberto Serrano, Corey Torres and by many brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico.
Friends and relatives are invited to call Wednesday 6-8 PM. at Feeney Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church,322 S. 5th Street Reading, PA, at 9:30 AM on Thursday, August 4th, . Interment at Charles Evans Cemetery Reading, PA.
