Nancy E. Biechler

Nancy Biechler, 73, a good and faithful servant, was called home to her eternal reward while residing at Phoebe Berks Health Care Center June 11, 2023.

Born in Lancaster, Pa. on Sept. 2, 1949, Nancy was the oldest of four daughters to her parents, the late Richard and Nancy Frey. Nancy and her husband, George, also a resident of Phoebe Berks, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December of 2022. 

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two children: Ann LaFata (wife of Michael), of Reading; John Clifton Herr, 87, of Sinking Spring, peacefully passed away Saturday, March 19th, surrounded by his family. John was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on September 29, 1934, a son of the late Kathryn (Long) Herr and Ernest C Herr. He was the husband of Loris K. (Kopac) Herr, who survives him. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. John was a Professional Engineer, having received his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon) in 1956. He was a structural engineer at Gilbert Associates in Reading and after his retirement from Gilberts, and operated his own consulting engineering business, providing services to many clients. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain and Engineer Unit Commander, where his last assignment was the U.S. Army Advanced Marksmanship Unit. He earned recognition as a Distinguished Rifleman and International Shooter, of which only 20 persons held both titles. He was a 2-time All American Rifle Shooter, a member of the United States Shooting Team, Olympic Team and Cowboy Action Shooting Team. John had many hobbies and passions in life, including woodworking, photography, traveling and his family. He designed and constructed two of his homes and extensively traveled with his wife to all 7 continents. He lived a life of honor, kindness, respect and love. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. John is survived by his two daughters, Laura, wife of Peter, of PA; Cindy VanHise, wife of David VanHise of Perkasie, PA; and son, Cliff Herr, of Cumru Township. He is also survived by 2 granddaughters; his beloved Katherine and Brittany, along with his sister, Jane Eisenhower, wife of Don Eisenhower. Interment with full Military Honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Arrangements entrusted to John P.
