Howard "Jim" Willman, Sr.
Howard J. Willman, Sr., 90, of Reading, passed away Monday, August 9th, at his residence. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family which included his long time friend of 42 years, Kenneth Kline.
Howard was born in Reading, PA on July 9, 1931, a son of the late Mary (Geibel) Long and Morgan Willman.
"Jim", as everyone knew him, dutifully served our country in the U.S. Army as a CPL in the Korean War where he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge among other honor, serving in 4 major campaigns. . He then served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Marines.
Following his lengthy service, he was employed for 32 years at Crompton and Knowles in Reading, Pennsylvania. as the Chief of Receiving and Shipping. He was also President of the Steelworkers 3740. He was known to always have a joke to tell. You could find him in his garden, or with a good crossword puzzle, or in the kitchen creating a delicious meal to share. His other hobby included stained glass creations.
Howard is survived by two sons Howard (Howie) J. Willman, Jr., husband of Sheri, of Temple, PA; and Timothy S. Willman husband of Danielle. of Birdsboro, PA and the entire loving Kline Family.
Howard is also survived by two sisters, Sandra and Virginia, and one brother Russell. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert, Alvin, Alfred, and his sisters Carolyn, Shirley and Gail.
