Gerald (Jerry) Schell Obituary

Gerald D. Schell, 81, of Reading, passed away Monday, July 2nd, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.  He had been a resident of Sacred Heart Villa since September 2016. He formerly resided in Welsh Woods, Shillington, PA. 

Gerald was born in Reading, PA on February 8, 1937, a son of the late Dorothy (Schell) and Paul Hains. The husband of Mary Ann (Bukowski) Schell who survives him, Gerald was a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1954.

He retired as a Production Supervisor at Hershey’s Luden’s Plant Reading, PA.. He was also the manager of the Werner Ski Shop on South 8th St. in Reading from 1966-1980. He began his career in Sales, employed by Kagen’s Sporting Goods, Reading, PA from 1954-1966.

In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, Jerry is survived by a son,Gregory Schell, of Wilmington, DE, 2 grandchildren Benjamin Schell husband of Bridget of Gettysburg, PA and Emily Schell of Prescott, Arizona, 2 Brothers Roger Hains of Reading and Paul Barry Hains, husband of Valerie Hains, also of Reading.

Services are private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, Sacred Heart Villa, 51 Seminary Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
