George served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in WWII. He served in Central Europe in the Ardennes and the Rhineland, and was in the Battle of the Bulge with Company A, and the 1252nd Combat Engineer Brigade. He is one of the last Bulge Veterans in Berks County.

After his service, he worked as a Diesel Mechanic for 47 years at Doehler-Jarvis in Pottstown, PA.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his daughter, Abby Moore Steinmeyer, son in law Mark Steinmeyer, and his two grandchildren Sophia and Anthony Steinmeyer. He was predeceased by his daughter, Crystal A. Krause.
