Gene O. Barry, 86, of Laureldale passed away Thursday, September 2nd at Rittenhouse Village at Muhlenberg, surrounded by family.
Gene was born in Reading on September 10,1934, a son of the late Dorothy (Wetten) and Robert Barry, Sr. He was the devoted husband of Shirley (Breidegam) Barry, who survives him.
Gene was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Reading and served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman during the Korean War. He later worked as a Mill Manager at Interstate InterCorr, retiring in June 1997. He was a devoted husband and father who loved spending time with his family, fishing and hunting in the mountains. He enjoyed watching his John Wayne westerns.
In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by six daughters, Cheryl Knoll, of Mohnton; Cindy, wife of Michael Cipar, of Reading; Grace Gundrum, of Shoemakersville; Lori, wife of Roy Zuber, of Fleetwood; Kelli Pittman, of Fleetwood; Bobbi, wife of Christopher James, of Auburn; sister, Linda Barry, of Reading; sister, Kim, wife of Tom Suess, of Reading and brother, Lynn Barry. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Barry, Jr., two sisters, Joan Gardner, Beverly Kear, granddaughter, Alexandra Knoll and great grandson, Hudson Knoll.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather Thursday, September 9th from 11:00 to 12:00 PM at the John P. Feeney Funeral Home. Religious service will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
