Gary David Good

Gary David Good, 75, formerly of Sinking Spring, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading.

Gary was born in Reading, PA, on February 8, 1949, a son of the late Ethel L. (Pennypacker) and Donald P. Good. He was the widower of Donna A. (Hoffmaster) Good, who predeceased him in 2017.

Gary is survived by a son, David G. Good, husband of Ashlee, of Wernersville, PA, and a sister, Donna Renninger, wife of Rod, of Bernville, PA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whom he considered family.

He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church in West Lawn, and graduated from Reading High School, Class of 1969.

Gary was employed as a custodian and laborer with various companies in the city. He retired from the Reading School District after working there for over 10 years.

But his true passion was music. Gary was a self-taught drummer and skilled at playing many other instruments. He performed locally for more than 50 years, often filling in for other musicians with various bands. Gary had a great knowledge of clubs, bands, and musicians in the Reading area. He was always willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn the drums. He often reflected on the many places and audiences he played for over the years and loved telling stories about them to anyone who would listen. He loved the city of Reading and enjoyed entertaining and lifting people's spirits through music.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family at Feeney Funeral Home on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. A religious service will follow at 11:00 AM at Gethsemane Chapel of the Resurrection in Laureldale, PA. Gary will be interred next to his wife, Donna, at Gethsemane Cemetery after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Reading Musical Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
