Ewald H. (Eddie) Holtz, 103, of Cumru Township, passed away Thursday, January 26th at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading. Eddie was born in Königsberg, Germany, on November 16, 1913, a son of the late Esther (Lottes) and Adolf Holtz. He was the widower of Hannahlore G. (Tilmes) .
Eddie emigrated to the U.S. in 1925 and settled in Reading. He was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Reading and the Masonic Teutonia Lodge #367. Eddie served in the U.S. Army in WW II. As a young man, he worked for Pep Boys Auto Parts in Reading and retired from working at Continental Can Company in 1977 at the age of 64. Eddie loved to eat, and always had a great appetite throughout his life.
Eddie is survived by a son, K. Jack Holtz, of Bellefonte, PA; a sister, Hildegarde, widow of Harold Hower, of Kirksville, MO, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, sisters Frida (Long) and Emma (Fisher); niece Sigrid R. Hoffman and nephew Ernest H. Tilmes, Jr.
Interment will be private at convenience of the family at Robeson Lutheran Church Cemetery, Plowville, PA.
