Elizabeth C. “Betty” (Schubert) Ballasy, 87, of New Holland, PA peacefully passed away due to natural causes, while sleeping, in the early morning of Wednesday, April 5th, at Garden Spot Village, Wintergarden Nursing Facility.
Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 9, 1936, Betty was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Kleitz) Schubert, sister to the late John Schubert and Eileen Blank, of Horsham, PA.
Betty graduated St. Hubert High School in 1954, and spent most of her life raising her family in the Rhawnhurst section of Philadelphia with her beloved husband, Joseph M. Ballasy, the love of her life for 58 years. They moved to Lancaster County in 1986 where she resided for the last 36 years.
A devoted member of St. Benedict R.C. Church, Mohnton, PA, she was a loving wife, the proud mother of three sons, and Medical Secretary for 42 years retiring in 2009.
Betty was an avid Phillies and Reading's Fightin Phils fan, enjoyed volunteering at Garden Spot Village community events, loved playing bingo, singing in the choral group, and couldn’t resist the bargains at community yard sales.
Betty is survived by her three sons Joseph P. Ballasy (Lorraine) of Warrington, PA, Kenneth J. Ballasy (Kati) of NC, and Daniel J. Ballasy (Denise Makovec) of Oakhurst, NJ; grandchildren, Nicholas (Paola), Lucas (Dana) and Justin Ballasy, and great granddaughter, Sofia Ballasy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 12, 10:30 am at the St. Benedict R.C. Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, PA 19540
Friends may call at the church for visitation starting at 9:30 am until Mass begins at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 319 Wabash Road, Ephrata, PA 17522.
