Elfriede (Ziegenhagel) Schneider Obituary

Elfriede Schneider

Former owner of Robesonia Flowers

“Her last breath on earth was her first breath in heaven”(Billy Graham).

Elfriede Schneider, 92, of Wyomissing, formerly of Lower Heidelberg Township, passed away on the morning of September 24, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Elfriede was born in Kreis Wreschen, Poland, and was the daughter of the late Julianna (Banik) and Gustav Ziegenhagel.  She was married to her loving husband of 68 years, Albert, who passed away on April 4, 2018.  Together, they immigrated to the United States in 1962 and built a wonderful life together.

Elfriede had a work ethic that was unmatched. While a young woman in Germany, Elfriede learned the art of sewing, and was an accomplished seamstress for both David Crystal and Talbots. She had a very artistic eye for design, and was an avid gardener throughout her whole life. Elfriede was an excellent cook and graced her family with her delectable German dishes. She was known locally as the owner of Robesonia Flowers, Inc., a family florist and greenhouse business established in 1979 until her retirement from there in 1999. Elfriede’s eyes lit the brightest when she spoke of her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was a woman of steadfast faith and trusted in the Lord with all her heart, knowing that his love endures forever.

Elfriede is survived by her two children, a son, Norbert Schneider, husband of Linda, Wernersville; and a daughter, Annette Burris, fiancée of Paul Olive, also of Wernersville.

She was the proud Oma to 5 grandchildren, Jonathan Schneider, husband of Ashley, Alexander, Rosalie Kane, wife of Evan, Matthew Burris, husband of Taylor, and Taylor Burris, husband of Linsey. She is survived by 6 great grandchildren: Olivia Schneider, Ellie Anne Schneider, Everly Burris, Milo Burris, Caleb Kane and Violet Kane. Elfriede was the youngest of 12 children and is also survived by one sister, Herta Muller, of Germany.
