Eileen S. O'Neil, 91, formerly of Reading, passed away at 10:13 AM, Thursday, December 22nd, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading. Eileen was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 20, 1925, a daughter of the late Mary (Greene) and Alfred J. O'Neil.
Eileen was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Reading where she served as a lector, chalicer, and a member of the vestry. She was a 1943 graduate of Reading High School and 1947 graduate of Albright College. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh. She retired from a distinguished career as Director of Social Services of Dauphin Co. Children and Youth Services in Harrisburg. Eileen was also one of the founders of Threshold Rehabilitative Services, Inc. in Reading, PA. She touched the hearts of all who knew her because her heart was full of love and she was a great example of an angel on earth.
Eileen is survived by 2 nieces: Maureen, of Tarpon Springs, Fl., and Claudia, wife of Barry Walters, of Sinking Spring, Pa. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Geraldine (Gerbino), of West Lawn, and JoAnn (Cucinotta), of Tarpon Springs, Fl.; a great niece, and a great nephew. She was predeceased by brothers John B. and Arthur E.
Services are private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery Reading, PA.
