E. Immogene Rhinehart died on July 19, 2022, two weeks after celebrating her 100th birthday. She was the widow of William A. Rhinehart, Jr., with whom she shared over 64 years of marriage. Born in Reading on July 2, 1922, Mrs. Rhinehart was a daughter of the late Jay and Sallie (Schmeck) Lantz. She was a 1939 graduate of Wilson High School and a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.
Immogene was devoted to her family and in later years loved playing with her grandchildren. She was an active volunteer with church and community activities. She served as a Camp Fire Girl leader, was active in PTA at her children’s schools, and was a church youth leader. Hat making, sewing and crocheting were also accomplished skills Immogene shared. For many years she worked as a church secretary and also loved to ride horses. In her later years, she and her husband volunteered at a local kindergarten class, where she was affectionately known as Grandma. She won several awards at the Senior Games and loved to play mini golf, winning several tournaments.
She is survived by daughters Immogene (wife of James Smedberg), Billie J., and Melanie; 3 grandsons and their wives, and 13 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Atonement Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
