Deacon Frank D. Colon, 80, of Reading, passed away Saturday, November 1st, at Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading.
Frank was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico on January 26, 1945, a son of the late Angelita (Rivera) and Gregorio Colon and was the husband of Carmen (Rojas) Colon, who survives him.
Frank was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Reading, and was an ordained Deacon in the Allentown Diocese serving both St. Peter's and St. Joseph's parishes. He was a baseball pitcher for St. Paul's Grade School team in his earlier life. After school he worked as a Technician at Bell Atlantic-Verizon in Reading for 30 years retiring in 1997. He was also a member of the Puerto Rican Society.
Frank is survived by his wife, Carmen, and a daughter, Debbie Ann, husband of Ream, of Exeter Township; two sons Richard D., husband of Nanette Colon, of Bethlehem; Dennis K. Colon, husband of Kate Colon, of Vancouver, Canada; three sisters, Gladys Gonzalez, of Reading; Marie Hamm, of Philaedlphia; Donna Glaze, of Reading; seven brothers, Greg Colon, of North Carolina; Angelo Colon, of California; Antonio Colon, of Reading; William Colon, of Pittsbuirgh; Martin Colon, of Georgia; Victor Colon, of Reading; Louis Colon, of Delaware. He is also survived by 2 grand children and 5 great grand children and was predeceased by a grandson Evan Ream, his sister, Gloria Gonzalez, and 2 brothers Norman Colon and Erwin Colon.
Viewing will be Thursday, November 6th from 9 AM to 10 AM at Feeney Funeral Home. Religious service will follow at 10 AM with Msgr. John Grabish officiating. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may made in his name to St Peter's RC Church or St. Joseph's RC Church.
