Clayton H. Evans
Clayton H. Evans, 91, of Reading, was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ Monday, September 13th, while in his residence in Berks County.
Clayton was born in Berwick, PA on March 31, 1930, a son of the late Dorthea M. (Clark) and Wesley J. Evans.
Clayton graduated Reading High School, Class of 1948. He then worked as a Theatre Manager at William Goldman Theatres at both the Strand and Astor theatres retiring from the theatres in 1972. After leaving the theatre industry he worked as a cook for local restaurants.
Clayton is survived by a Niece Lynn M. Deeds, wife of Chester R. Deeds of Reading , as well as life long family friend Marie Kostarous, distant great nieces and nephews, friends Leonard and Joyce Moser, Will Hower, Theresa and Robin Fletcher and Joseph Smith. He is also survived by his furbaby niece Bella.
Clayton was predeceased by a brother Paul W. Evans and two sisters Bluma F. Madeira and Ruth Anna Mae Evans.
Clayton also served his country in the Korean War in Army Medical Company 179th Infantry Regiment. He received the Combat Medic Badge, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. He received his honorable discharge July 1960. He always considered veterans who lost their lives the heroes and not him for serving his country.
Please note the family requires masks to be worn while in the funeral home but outside at your discretion. The family would also like to take a moment and thank everyone who contributed to Clayton's care.
Friends and relatives are invited to call on Thursday, September 16th from 12 Noon until 1 PM at Feeney Funeral Home. Religious Service at 1 PM with Reverend Robert Argot officiating. Interment with full US Army Military Honors and burial at Charles Evans Cemetery at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Veteran's Making a Difference 2412 Spring St. West Lawn, PA 19609.
